November 16, 2021

"You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don't try and get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way" - James 1:2-4

Do you ever have that playlist or album that's your default get into work mode? For a hot minute, it was AJR's "Click" album. Ask my 2019 Spotify Recap.

There is a song called "The Good Part" that's gotten a second wind. (Thanks TikTok trends. ;D)

The line that gets used is "So can we skip to the good part?" (Then the beat drops. So good, cue dopamine.)

If you are anything like me. You have felt the same way when you are going through those rough times or those "bla" moments. Where's my big break? How much longer do I have to keep taking 2 steps forward one step back? When will this kid grow out of this phase of peeing his pants when they can't make it to the bathroom on time?

It's in those failures we see where we can learn and improve. That friction in the relationship we have the chance to make them stronger. Going back to the gym after some crappy day of sets. When you can look at your past traumas, and start working it out to get to help your mental health.

There is a first part to the chorus of Good Part that goes; "If you put this scene on a movie screen, is it called a happy end."

What good is a movie if it's missing parts? The insightful incident, character development, making the turning point worth the wait. (...my movie nerd is showing)

It would have been easier for Frodo to take the Ring to Mt. Doom on an eagle. But then you would never see Sam Wise become the hero. (Yes, he is the real hero.)

Hallmark would be out of the movie business. If the heroine fell in love, married the duckling into a swan, plaid-shirted old flame, secret billionaire.

You don't tear up when Andy goes to college. And gives Buzz, Woody, and all his toys to Bonnie without the adventures of lost toys.

How will you know it's the good part if you don't have pressure in life to find out?
